Finding an experienced pheo para medical team is one of the most important decisions you will make in your journey.  We are here to help.  This program connects patients with institutions providing top-notch care.

The Pheo Para Center of Excellence program provides an environment where patients receive the best possible pheo para care through a geographically diverse network of clinical centers.  In addition to clinical and wellness services, the centers provide professional and lay education in the areas they serve, work with the Pheo Para Alliance in its efforts to continually improve the lives of those affected by the illness, and support clinical research efforts.

PPA Centers of Excellence (COEs) are designated based on rigorous criteria to ensure comprehensive expertise in the care of pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma, including complex cases. All COEs are expected to provide access to multidisciplinary care, including specialized surgical expertise when indicated. For rare and highly complex tumors—such as head and neck paragangliomas—care may be delivered either within the center or through coordinated referral to highly experienced surgeons with specific expertise in these procedures. Treatment decisions are guided by multidisciplinary teams and established clinical principles, including careful consideration of when surgery is or is not appropriate. Patients are encouraged to speak with their care team to understand how their individual case will be managed and whether additional consultation may be beneficial.

The program offers two levels of designation.  The Clinical Center of Excellence (CCE) designation recognizes centers that provide high-quality, multi-disciplinary adult and pediatric care and facilitate pheo para and related research.  Clinical Centers are indicated below with an orange pin.

Additionally, the Clinical & Research Center of Excellence (CRCE) designation recognizes centers that provide the same high-quality, multi-disciplinary adult and pediatric care as CCE’s, but also have a comprehensive pheo para research program.  CRCE’s are indicated below with a green pin.

If you don’t see a center near you and resources won’t allow you to travel please reach out to the Pheo Para Alliance at info@pheopara.org with questions.
