Video submissions for the 7th Annual Pheo Para Awareness Week are live!
This year’s theme is “The Adrenaline Circuit”! The goal behind our theme is to highlight the importance of our team that keeps us going in “the race”!
How to participate: Patients, caregivers and healthcare providers are asked to record a short video (or two!) sharing a brief response to one of the following questions about your pheo para journey.
Each video should be no more than 30 seconds long.
- Patients:
- Question 1: Tell us about someone on your team who made a difference in your journey.
- Helpful prompts:
- “One challenge I couldn’t have navigated alone was…”
- “Someone who changed my journey was…”
- “I knew I wasn’t alone when…”
- “My ____ made a difference by…”
- “The support that meant the most was…”
- “One person I’ll always be grateful for is…”
- “The best advice I received was…”
- Question 2: What would you say to someone who has just been diagnosed?
- Helpful prompts:
- “The first thing I would want someone newly diagnosed to know is…”
- “If I could go back and talk to myself on the day I was diagnosed, I would say…”
- “What I wish someone had told me when I was first diagnosed is…”
- “One thing I want newly diagnosed patients to remember is…”
- “You don’t have to navigate this journey alone because…”
- “One of the most important things I learned was…”
- “What I know now that I didn’t know then is…”
- Caregivers:
- Question 1: As a caregiver, what has this journey taught you about supporting someone living with PPGL?
- Helpful prompts:
- “I’ve learned that the most critical part of supporting someone fighting a PPGL is…”
- “One way I was able to help was…”
- “There was a moment when I realized my role was…”
- “Sometimes the best thing I can do is…”
- “One of the hardest parts of this journey has been…”
- “I never expected that supporting someone with PPGL would require…”
- “A challenge we faced together was…”
Tips for recording:
- Use your phone (or webcam) in landscape (horizontal) orientation
- Film at eye level, with your face and shoulders in the frame
- Record in a quiet space without background noise
- Face a light source (e.g., a window)
- Look directly into the camera when speaking
- Avoid filters, effects, music, or editing
- If you have something zebra-themed (shirt, pin, scarf), wear it!
- Non-english videos are encouraged – but you will need to provide a translation.
