Pheo Para Alliance Appoints Betsy Herold as Board Chair

The Pheo Para Alliance (PPA) is proud to announce Betsy Herold as Chair of the Board of Directors, marking an important step forward in the organization’s continued growth and global impact.

A dedicated leader in nonprofit fundraising and advocacy, Betsy brings decades of experience supporting healthcare initiatives—from leading a 10-year charity tennis tournament to chairing multiple hospital fundraising galas. Her commitment to the Pheo Para Alliance is deeply personal, shaped by the loss of three members of a close friend’s family to pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL).

As Chair, Betsy will help guide PPA’s next phase of strategic growth—expanding access to specialized care, advancing research, and strengthening partnerships across the global rare disease community.

“This mission is deeply personal to me,” said Betsy Herold. “I’ve seen firsthand the impact this disease has on families, and I’m committed to helping the Pheo Para Alliance accelerate progress—so patients have access to the care, answers, and hope they deserve.”

“Betsy’s appointment signals the next phase of strategic growth for the Alliance,” said Dr. JoBeth McCarthy, Executive Director. “Her leadership will be critical as we expand our global impact.”

The Pheo Para Alliance also extends its deep appreciation to outgoing Chair Linda Krasnor-Rose for her leadership in strengthening the organization’s foundation and positioning it for the future. We are immensely grateful for her unwavering support and commitment to the PPGL community.

Join us in welcoming Betsy Herold as we continue to advance research, expand care, and improve outcomes for patients worldwide.
