Pheo Para Alliance (PPA) has designated Stanford Health Care as a Pheo Para Research & Clinical Center of Excellence. This designation is provided to centers which have a comprehensive research program and provide high-quality, multi-disciplinary care for pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma patients. Linda Rose-Krasnor, Chair of the PPA Board of Directors states, “Drs. Justin Annes and Electron Kebebew, Co-Directors of the Pheo Para Stanford Health Care program, have demonstrated their commitment to the patient community long ago through their serving on the PPA Medical Advisory Board and participating in conferences and webinars.  Being able to share their highly experienced, multi-disciplinary team, complete with a dedicated pheo para research program, adds  significant value to our pheo para community.”

Stanford Health Care is the fifth center recognized as a Research & Clinical Center of Excellence, and this addition brings the total list of designated Centers of Excellence to seventeen.

Co-Director, Dr. Justin Annes states, “Nearly twenty years ago, I realized that many pheo para-affected patients felt they didn’t have knowledgeable and experienced providers to help them manage their rare condition. They felt isolated and without a healthcare home. As a result, I dedicated my clinical and research career to the care of pheo para individuals/families- to ensure that they receive the highest level of care and benefit from scientific advances. At Stanford, we have assembled an exceptional interdisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, and scientists who are dedicated to guiding pheo para patients through each step of their care journey. I couldn’t be prouder to co-lead, with Dr. Electron Kebebew, our Pheo Para Clinical and Research Center of Excellence.”

Emma, a Stanford Health Care patient, states, “I have been under the care of Dr. Annes and his team since discovering my genetic mutation, which increases my risk of developing paragangliomas and pheochromocytomas. Dr. Annes has been exceptional in addressing all of my concerns, taking a thorough, data-driven approach that has provided invaluable reassurance about my treatment plan. He consistently goes above and beyond, dedicating extra time to educate me about my condition and assisting me in finding trusted providers for my family members in other locations who share the same mutation. I cannot recommend the Stanford NET group highly enough for their outstanding care and expertise.”

Congratulations to the team at Stanford Health Care for becoming a Pheo Para Clinical & Research Center of Excellence!
