PPA Awards Two Research Travel Awards

Stephanie Alband, PPA Executive Director, attended the NETRF Research Symposium on October 28-30 in Boston to award two early career researchers Travel Awards to share their pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma focused research.

Our Awardees:

Yasmin Kemkem, PhD, King’s College, London, shared her oral presentation focusing on Exploring the Role of a Novel Adrenomedullary stem cell population in pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma tumourigenesis.

Hector Gonzalez, Cantu, UT Health San Antonio, shared a poster focused on validation of an organoid model to effect precision medicine in pheo and para.  Hector was also an awardee last year.

The Travel Awards Program launched last year was created to help early career researchers underwrite costs associated to attend the Symposium and share their pheo para focused research.  The mission of the program is to fuel the pipeline of researchers focused on pheo and para, an underfunded and as a result, under-researched neuroendocrine tumor.

This program is underwritten by our community of donors who include mostly patients and caregivers.  They are putting their dollars and faith in our awardees and world-renowned researchers to find answers.

Special thanks to NETRF for their collaboration in this initiative.
