UF Health Receives Center of Excellence Designation

Pheo Para Alliance has designated UF Health as a Pheo Para Clinical Center of Excellence. This designation is bestowed upon centers which provide high-quality, multi-disciplinary care for pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma patients.

This marks the first center in Florida and the first in the southeastern United States to receive a designation.  Linda Rose-Krasnor, Chair of the PPA Board of Directors states, “Co-Directors, Dr. Hans Ghayee, Endocrinologist and Dr. Aditya Shirali, Endocrine Surgeon, along with their team, demonstrated throughout the application process that they are dedicated to providing compassionate, multi-disciplinary, coordinated care to patients throughout the southeast with this complicated disease.” Dr. Ghayee also provides clinical care to VA patients.

Drs. Ghayee and Shirali state, “At UF Health, the patient comes first. Individuals diagnosed with pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma have access to a multidisciplinary care team that collaborates on the best treatment course for them. Experts are available to diagnose, treat, and continue lifelong surveillance. Clinical care, education, and research are key pillars that drive our team to help find better solutions and hope for our patients. We will guide patients every step of the way and help them navigate this challenging and rare disease.”

This announcement brings the total list of designated Centers of Excellence to sixteen.
