Peer Support Volunteer Description

The mission of Pheo Para Alliance is to empower patients with pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma, their families and medical professionals through advocacy, education and a global community of support, while helping to advance research that accelerates treatments and cures.

Being there for someone who needs to talk about their pheo para journey is a critical part of our mission.  Thank you for your interest in serving as a Peer Support Volunteer.  Because we are Stronger United.

Peer Support Volunteers are expected to:

  • Listen and communicate with pheo para peer via email, phone, or virtual meeting in a respectful, non-judgmental manner to provide support, encouragement and information
  • Reply promptly and keep appointments with peer
  • Interact with your peer or group for 1 -2 hours per month
  • Know the organization’s mission
  • Sign a conflict of interest policy disclosure and update it if any conflicts arise
  • Maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of Pheo Para Alliance, and sign a volunteer confidentiality disclosure
  • Maintain confidentiality of all discussions with peer with a few exceptions
  • Attend 45-minute training
  • Attend quarterly peer support meetings by virtual meeting or phone
  • Work in good faith with fellow volunteers and staff toward the achievement of the organization’s mission
