PPA Recognizes European Hospital Georges Pompidou as Pheochromocytoma Research & Clinical Center of Excellence

Pheo Para Alliance has designated European Hospital Georges Pompidou/ Inserm in Paris, France as a Pheo Para Research & Clinical Center of Excellence. This announcement brings the total list of designated Centers of Excellence to fourteen, with four centers in Europe.  This is the first center recognized in Europe as a Research & Clinical Center of Excellence.  This designation is provided to centers which have a comprehensive research program and provide high-quality, multi-disciplinary care for pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma patients.

Linda Rose-Krasnor, Chair of the PPA Board of Directors states, “recognizing this world-renowned research and clinical facility is not only an opportunity for patients in France to connect with this center, but also an opportunity to recognize the hope their accomplished research program provides to all patients.  This is also an opportunity to bring our rare patient community together globally.”

About European Hospital Georges Pompidou

The site of the Center of Reference for Rare Adrenal Diseases (CRMRS), specialized in pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas is located at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital (HEGP) is directed by Professor Laurence Amar. This site is supported by the HEGP hypertension unit (Pr Azizi, Pr Amar, Dr Deflorenne) and the genetics department at the same hospital (Pr Gimenez-Roqueplo, Pr Burnichon, Dr Buffet). The HEGP Reference Center for Rare Adrenal Diseases is attached to the Inserm research team specializing in rare cancers, headed by Dr Judith Favier.
